¡Español en mi Escuela!Enrichment Program for Daycare and PreschoolsIntegrated and Spiral Curriculum Approach to Enhance Learning The curriculum is designed to offer a variety of activities that foster the physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth of each child in connection with the new language. It creates a natural environment that takes into account children's learning styles (multiple intelligence) and capacity to learn. Our curriculum is very flexible and links easily to your school curriculum since children learn everyday themes such us colors, numbers, calendar, foods as well as commands and more. The themes address the current season and have a Latin American perspective. We are based on an integrated curriculum in which children have control of their own learning by linking subjects that develop skills and knowledge in relation to the new language. Our design is based on linguistic research that has shown the social and cognitive advantages of learning another language during the earliest years. Some of these benefits may include cross-cultural understanding, natural-sounding, native-like accent, creativity, and improved test scores, among others. Our MethodologyBecause our program is based on children's learning style and capacity to learn, music and movement are the key elements we utilize to enhance learning. The use of movement relies on a powerful linguistic tool called TPR (Total Physical Response), which is based on the coordination and connection of speech and action. This can achieve long-term retention after a few exposures, and often after one attempt. Since TPR is a language-body conversation, American Sign Language is a natural component of the program. Through the variety of movement activities your child not only obtains cognitive development but also improves gross motor skills and sensory development. By using music we engage children and expose them to dynamic Latin American rhythms that cultivate and promote sensitivity, coordination and curiosity while having fun. Music is the medium for many important cross-cultural experiences. Class DescriptionWe offer a variety of classes for children ages 0 to 6 years old to learn through music and movement. Our classes may be given in a mixed-age group or by dividing children according to age. Our classes run in periods of 8-12 weeks, are usually 25-30 minutes long. Full Involvement Through School and Family ParticipationSince learning a language is an enriching experience for all ages we invite educators to sit with the children to create a natural environment, to enjoy each other's differences, learn from each other and have fun together. Children and teachers may participate in small and large group activities. We know how important and special it is for parents to be part of their children's experiences in meanigfull ways, so ABC Spanish in Motion extends Spanish learning opportunities to children's homes by providing a music CD and lyric booklet. A new Music CD is produced every season. ReferralsIf you are a parent and would like your child to have this developmental experience, please refer us to your school.
