Our Team: Elizabeth Antonellis

Elizabeth was born in Mexico City and grew up in nearby Cuernavaca where she lived until 1997 when she moved to Boston, Massachusetts. Her early college years in Mexico centered on Biochemical Engineering and Marine Resources at the ITESM university in Guaymas, Mexico where she researched and monitored gray whale activity in the Sea of Cortez as part of her studies. Once in Massachusetts, she attended UMass Boston where she finished her studies and earned a dual B.S. in Biology and Anthropology focusing her anthropological research on the identification of mammal bones. Her expertise in aquatic insects landed her a role as a New England Aquarium curator where her contributions became part of the Aquarium’s collection.

Teaching Spanish has always been a big part of her life. While living in Mexico she coordinated numerous bilingual exchange sessions with students of all ages. In the US, she has taught Spanish in various pre-schools and elementary schools and has been recognized for the degree of energy, organization and enthusiasm she brings to her classes.

Having two bilingual pre-schoolers at home has further inspired her to share her native language and culture with other kids. Elizabeth truly believes that as parents and educators it is our duty to expose our kids to different concepts, languages and cultures in order to expand their vision and prepare them in becoming citizens of the world.
