ABC California (Oakland & Bay Area)
A native of Bogota, Colombia, Alajandra obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Foreign Languages Teaching from the National Pedagogical University in Bogota. She has two years experience as an English teacher in Colombia implementing audiovisual elements as a core element of academic curriculum. After completing her studies, she moved to Boston to study English at Harvard Extension School and continue her education in teaching at the University of Massachusetts, including English as a Second Language. Her passion as a teacher of language is couples with a desire to work with children because little minds are always open to receive everything with joy and enthusiasm. Alejandra joined ABC Spanish in Motion in 2013, which has been a rewarding experience as she loves working with children and exposing them to her native Spanish language and culture. After two years working with children in Boston, Alejandra relocated to California where she is extending and opening ABC Spanish in Motion’s unique language program as a director and lead teacher of our California center based in the Bay Area.
ABC Massachusetts (Greater Boston Area)
Raquel was born in Venezuela where she learned Spanish, her maternal language. Now a mother of 2 bilingual girls, and married to her husband from Argentina, Raquel continues to keep the Spanish language and vibrant Latin culture alive through her work at ABC Spanish In Motion. Raquel teaches family classes, preschool classes, and also leads several ongoing singalongs at local libraries where she brings the ABC program to the community. Her favorite things include singing, dancing, spending time with her family, and travelling. Raquel is a graduate of Florida International University where she received her degree in Hospitality Management. Travel and languages have always been her passion, and joining the ABC team 4 years ago, has been a rewarding experience as she loves to work with children and expose them to her native language and culture.
Anya was born in Cozumel, Mexico where she lived for 24 years. She moved to Boston five years ago with a radical change to her career. Anya studied Law in Mexico but was always involved in educational Activities. Teaching has always been her passion. She joined the ABC team two years ago following four years of experience working with and teaching children. Recently Anya has stepped up her commitment to the ABC team to serve as the Program Coordinator. Ever enthusiastic, charismatic and always committed to bringing the beauty of the Spanish language and culture to the little ones, Anya enriches the program and class experience.
Mayra Mesta Martinez
Mayra was born in Torreon, Coahuila state, Mexico where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She worked as a kindergarten English teacher in Mexico and she completed her an academic internship as a child psychologist in the largest community clinic from Durango City in Mexico. She moved to Boston 6 years ago, and and since a become a certified Spanish Medical Interpreter. She is been working in ABC Spanish in Motion for over a year. She loves to work with children, and studies in child development and teaching have been always her passions. Being part of ABC Spanish in motion has give her the opportunity to continue with her passions each day.
Juana Monsalve is a Colombian singer. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Music in Colombia and then traveled to Spain to study opera. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Music at Longy School of Music in Cambridge. She has eight years of experience as a music teacher for children and adults.
Dora Pena was born in the Dominican Republic. She graduated at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo with a degree in Modern Languages with concentration in English Language. After completing her studies, she moved to Boston where she attended Bunker Hill Community College and received an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her goal as a graduate student was to always work with children. She has been working with children for almost eleven years as a Pre-K teacher at an early childhood center. As a teacher it is important for Dora to keep her culture and roots alive in the classroom which includes her Spanish Language. During her time working with children at the center, she met the ABC Spanish in Motion program. Dora’s passion is teaching children. She enjoys arts and crafts, and loves creating fun art activities for children that reflects the beauty of the Spanish culture and language.
Yinna Ramos is from Cartagena, Colombia, where she studied Social Communication and Journalism. Coming from a family of primary school educators, it became clear that working with children is what she wanted to do. She started working with different foundations focused on children. When she moved to the US to further her studies, She didn’t want to stop doing what she likes so she became a Spanish tutor. Yinna has been with ABC Spanish in Motion for a year, and is loving the opportunity to be part of a program where she can be active with the kids, teaching them and learning from them while they are having fun.
